Athlete Development for Disability Sport

Our Program

The Athlete Development for Disability Sport (ADDS) program combines strength & conditioning, mental training, nutrition, and tactical approaches specific to athletes with a disability.

Emerging athletes new to disability sport work with the staff at the ASDC-Capital Region to develop fundamental skills that will enhance their ability to perform at an elite level in the future. The ASDC-Capital Region team will provide new athletes in the ADDS program with opportunities to try out a variety of sports offered throughout the community. In addition, the athletes will undergo an assessment to determine fitness levels and sport level involvement goals. An individualized exercise program will be designed from the assessment and the athletes will be reassessed throughout the year.

As athletes improve their fundamental skills in sport; or for athletes who already possess sport-specific skills and want to enhance their performance through higher level training, the ASDC – Capital Region offers the Athlete Enhancement Program (AEP). Athletes are referred by their coach through ASDC – Capital Region’s Coaching Enhancement Program (CEP). The AEP will support and educate the athletes in three areas: sport nutrition, mental skills and strength & conditioning on an ongoing basis throughout the season.
