Athlete Development for Disability Sport
Program Information for Coaches
ASDC – Capital Region has developed a comprehensive program to provide sport science based education to coaches training athletes in disability sport. Disability sport is generally considered to be ‘late specialization’; however, this is not always the case as coaches may have a wide range of age groups participating at the same level of sport.
It is a primary goal of ASDC – Capital Region's Athlete Development for Disability Sport (ADDS) program to provide you, as a coach, with the skills to provide the best training to a wide range of athletes. The ASDC – Capital Region team will work together through the Coaching Enhancement Program (CEP) to provide coaches with information regarding strength and conditioning, nutrition, and mental skills in order to develop a comprehensive, balanced, and individualized program to athletes of varying ability levels.
Developing the expertise of the coach will ultimately enhance the quality of training resulting in stronger, well rounded athletes.
