MENTAL SKILLS FOR PARENTS

Being the parent of an emerging athlete can be exciting, challenging, rewarding and sometimes frustrating.

Did you know that your reactions during your child’s participation in sport can make a big difference in how he or she perceives their performance?

Competition can be a time when children learn sport skills and develop the mental capabilities (such as composure or anger control) they will need to reach higher levels of performance.

As a parent, you want your child to develop confidence, teamwork, concentration and the ability to cope with disappointment. You can help by facilitating fun and satisfying sport experiences with the help from experts in sport psychology.

The ASDC – Capital Region can provide information about sport psychology that will help you create a more positive sport (and life) experience for you child. The programs can offer your children strategies and concepts that will assist them in reaching their performance goals.
